There’s picturesque… and then there’s picturesque golf. Bully Pulpit gives you both. A glance at their website gives you an idea of what it looks like there (Seriously, take the course tour.) but nothing can prepare you for the actual playing experience. Surrounded by the rugged badlands, there’s a picture worth taking on a dozen tee boxes.

The pride and joy of Medora, it’s reason alone to drive across North Dakota. But then so are the face-to-face encounters with the buffalo roaming freely across Theodore Roosevelt National Park. And those ginormous steaks at the Pitchfork Fondue… The straight out of a Hollywood Western “Rough Rider Hotel” with those Cinnamon Rolls across the street you can smell from blocks away… And don’t forget the entertainment galore courtesy of the world famous Medora Musical… And fudge... It’s almost too good to be true. And it’s in North Dakota. And there are unicorns!!! Okay… sorry. Too far.

But really, Medora has something for everyone… your whole family would love it here. There’s a spa, toys, ice cream and candy. And now that we’ve taken care of what everyone else wants to hear, this one is for you... This course is amazing! The green and fairway conditions are 2nd to none in the state. And in this climate, that’s truly remarkable. We recommend picking up a yardage book because the depth perceptions of what you see with the naked eye here are scary deceiving.

The course GM, Dave Solga, accompanied us on a hole by hole, shot by shot tour. The pride was quite evident in his descriptions of the course design and history. That attention to detail translated clearly onto the course. Don’t even ask us to name our favorite hole. 4 and 6 are both incredible… (#3 is evil.) And when it comes to the back… in particular holes 13-18. Man, oh man! To say this is the best 6 hole stretch in the Dakota’s is really no stretch at all. The greens on 14 and 16 should, in all honesty, probably be blown up, but at this point the number on your scorecard almost becomes irrelevant. Even Stevie Wonder would be impressed. Perhaps to this point, due to understandable ignorance, you hadn’t considered coming to Medora. We wouldn’t have blamed you. Now though… we would. You can feign ignorance no more. You can giddy on up out here now. Or kick y’all’s self later.

What an amazing course, set in the North Dakota Badlands. You won't believe it until you play it, and even then you won't believe it.

Hole 3 is a little unfair, otherwise it's either fun or beautiful everywhere else. The front tells you nothing of what you'll get on the back, and when you wrap up 13 you really start the ride. The service here (and in the entire city of Medora) is pretty much unmatched. It's no wonder they're always busy here... what does boggle your mind is how this course isn't nationally recognized more.

Phenomenal management, phenomenal conditions (better than Hawktree even) and everything you're looking for in a vacation destination. Can't wait to go back!!!
