Our first impression of Songbird Hills as we turned into the parking lot is the clubhouse. It was also our last impression in the rear view mirror. It has that resort / ski lodge look to it. Very welcoming, and the golf course behind it only enhances the view.

The staff, at check in, were all exceptional. Professional to the "t." (There isn't a "t" in professional.) They were eager to provide advice on specific holes and features of the round. The course was the realization of "a life long dream" of the owner. We had a chance to talk to the owner after our round. We could better appreciate then his "dream come true."

The 1st hole was an instant favorite, and trust us teeing off with 3 wood or less is the best option. The fairway is inviting, but just 250 yards out,the fairway drops off to a well protected green. If you are at the edge of the drop, it will be an easy 8 iron into a tree lined green. The putting surface is tricky, yet fair, but with a well placed shot not a bad putt. Returning to the clubhouse, we found this hole to be a topic of many conversations, since most golfers consider it one of the tougher holes on the course. Take note of the large bell on your path to the next hole. You are to ring the bell, to signify its all clear for the next group to hit.

The course as a whole, is very well maintained, and groomed beautifully. Play was slow through the front 9, but everyone we encountered at the tee boxes were pleasant and understanding. Walking this course would be quite difficult at times, as the distance between some holes was quite long and would be tiring. But, this adds to the charm of the course when you have a cart. "Short but Tricky" would be a worthy theme of this challenging yet entertaining course. The 7th hole, a par 3 is their signature hole of the course. An elevated green, looking over a fountain and pond... it has been featured on local newscasts.

It is our pleasure to recommend this course to any caliber of player. The conditions and service deserve praise and the course deserves your play.
